Furled Leader

Handmade Furled Leader made of poly thread for easier and better fly fishing!

All Leaders come with a loop at both ends for easy use with loop-to-loop against both the fly line and tippet ( no tippet ring ).

Our Furled Leaders come in four different models and colors, see the description below for the different models.

NOTE!: Don't forget to supplement your Furled Leader with a can of Leader Wax to be able to use the Leader for dry fly fishing.

About Furled Leaders:

Furled Leaders are made by using multiple strands of material that are twisted together into a tapered tuft.

This construction provides outstanding fly control and smooth transfer of energy from fly line to fly, which in turn provides smooth and soft presentations that can be crucial for attracting wary fish in challenging conditions such as mirror-like lakes.

In flowing water, Furled Leaders stand out due to their natural drift with low “drag” that allows the fly to follow the currents naturally without the tip “pulling” the fly.

Thanks to its twisted construction, Furled Leaders have almost no line memory and are very “jointless” unlike a stiff poly or fluorocarbon line. This can help reduce the risk of tangling and a Furled Leader does not coil up into a spiral on the water.

Leader Wax

Non-toxic floatant for fly fishing and Furled Leaders!

A jar of Leader Wax contains approximately 20 grams of wax.

About Leader Wax:

Our Leader Wax is primarily designed to be used with our Furled Leaders (see separate article) but can be used as any wax-based float.

It is made by hand and contains only vegetable oils and beeswax, making it completely non-toxic and better for the environment than silicone or petroleum-based products.

I use it myself for both our Furled Leaders but also for dry flies, scrape up a piece of wax with your nail and warm between your fingers and apply wherever you want on the fly, tafs or float line.

For use with a Furled Leader:

Place one end of the paw on the wax, press the paw lightly into the wax with your thumb and pull the entire paw between your thumb and the wax 2-3 times.

Smooth out and remove excess wax by pulling the entire paw through pinched fingers.
